JOB SUMMARY
Facilitate family engagement, including developing interpersonal relationships between
school district staff, students, and parents. Bilingual - English and Spanish. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops positive interpersonal relationships between school district staff, students,
and parents.
Facilitate parent-school communication.
Provides support in engaging families when students are experiencing truancy.
Assists families who are experiencing homelessness.
Serves as liaison between school district and families through the Child Study Team
process and the Section 504 process.
Participates in meetings with families to assist school staff with parent engagement.
Confers with staff and parents whenever necessary.
Assists in translation of phone contacts of non-English speaking families or
coordinates translation services.
Assists guidance office with preparing and sending written communication to families
to increase the parental engagement and ensure appropriate services for students are
being provided.
Performs related work as required for the students and their families by supporting the
guidance office.
Documents all interactions with students, community providers, family members and
events on a daily basis in CISDM.
Research and apply best practices from other Communities In Schools sites and from
local and national educational and service programs
Serve as a well-informed ambassador in furthering the CIS mission, its goals, and
programs
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Work effectively with diverse populations, including students, faculty, administration,
and community groups
Ability to work effectively with a broad range of representatives from public and private
service organizations, public education, neighborhood organizations, parent groups, and
local government
Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships and team building
Ability to gather and organize data
Ability to manage details and work independently
Ability to work effectively in changing work environment
Requirements
High school diploma required
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, social work or related preferred
Experience working with youth, within public education or community-based
organization
Bi-lingual preferred
POSITION STRUCTURE
Full-time, year-round, non-exempt
Schedule will vary according to programmatic needs, events and activities
Provide services to designated schools in Easton Area School District
On-going employment in this capacity is dependent on availability of funding

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
