Job Title: Behavioral Health Medical Office Assistant
Reports To: Behavioral Health Director
Type: Non-Exempt
Job Summary: Will serve as a liaison between Behavioral Health patients, clinical staff and Medical Records, Procedures and Referrals.
OVERVIEW:
This member of the Community Access Network’s healthcare team provides supportive services to the Behavioral Health team regarding the maintenance and management of the psychiatric care and counseling schedules, as delegated by the Director of Behavioral Health.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supporting behavioral health patients with scheduling, rescheduling and coordinating appointments and follow-up needs
· Fax, scan and coordinate documents for Behavioral Health patients' charts.
· Complete and fax Release of Information forms to outside offices and coordinate receipt of records for establishing care.
· Work closely with Clinical Coordinator, BH Director and providers in day-to-day clinic atmosphere
· Triage phone calls for crisis and connect with staff appropriately
· Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
- Warm, outgoing personality, with the ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task and to prioritize work.
- CPR certification.
- Must have computer knowledge in the use of electronic health records (or databases).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, health mgmt, psychology, social work, or related field
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
NECESSARY SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of the CAN Behavioral Health Program, specifically the psychiatric and therapeutic services offered.
- Experience in the following areas: Navigating and interacting with higher acuity mental health populations.
- Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new electronic health record and practice management software.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
- Sensitivity and experience working with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
- Familiarity and comfort working with issues related to sexual health and sexual identity, substance abuse, and/or history of trauma
- Knowledge of Integrated Behavioral Health models and Trauma-Informed Care
