What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Services - Teacher position at Community Access Unlimited?
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for developing and implementing Independent Living Skills curriculum for members and maintaining accurate records of their progress. Participate with members during recreational, educational, and vocational programming & activities. Ensure a safe and supportive environment through counseling, crisis management, & supervision of members. Provide teaching support to youth residing at Shelter program.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years' experience working with people with disabilities, BA / BS degree in special education, psychology, social work, or related field required. Teacher's certification. Experience in providing employment support preferable.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to maintain appropriate relationships with people with disabilities and at-risk adolescents utilizing normalization principles
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of CAU staff, members' families, and within the community.
- Ability to express oneself, both in writing and verbally, in a professional and comprehensive manner
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills with pro-active approach.
- Working knowledge of computer office software programs including Microsoft Office
- Ability to deliver effective presentations and training programs to members, staff and outside consumers.
- Ability to be resourceful and work independently with in agency guidelines to meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and calculations.
- Ability to accommodate last minute scheduling needs to ensure the safety of the program.
- Ability to professionally and resourcefully resolve issues regarding community based resources.
- Legally registered / insured automobile, valid driver's license, and safe driving record required at all times.
