What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Worker position at Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut?
BASIC FUNCTION:*
Interview and investigate applicants and recipients to determine eligibility for use of social programs and agency resources. Duties include recording and evaluating personal and financial data obtained from individuals; initiating procedures to grant, modify, deny, or terminate eligibility for various aid programs; authorizing grant amounts; and preparing reports. These workers generally receive specialized training and assist Community Serv. Specialist.
RESPONSIBILITIES:.
- Accurate data entry client's personal data
- Compile data related to social service programs
- Determine program eligibility
- Determine social service program status
- Maintain records, reports, or files
- Obtain information from individuals
- Explain government rules or policies to applicants
- Ensure compliance with government regulations
- Examine documents for completeness, accuracy, or conformance to standards
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director
REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual-Spanish
Education:
High School/G.E.D
Experience:
Prior office experience

Specific Knowledge: Spanish speaking a plus.
Indicate the level and the frequency of supervision received:
Training provided by Program Manager and other staff on program procedures. Any irregular occurrences (clients, applications, etc.) can be referred to the Energy Coordinator or Program Manager. Must have the ability to work both independently and as a team player when needed.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.00 per week
