This is a FULL TIME IN PERSON position.

The Community Food Program Manager is responsible for the management, promotion, and maintenance of the Community Action Center Community Food programs in accordance with program goals. Programs include food distribution, a food box program, community support network and donations (both in-kind and monetary), food rescue, teaching kitchen, gardens and hydroponics, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment and development. Overseeing & training of food bank staff member. This position is under the supervision of the Executive Director.

Requirements

Essential Function / Major Responsibilities :

  • Manage programs and daily operation of all Community Food programs
  • Develop and promote an active and on-going cooperative relationship with CAC staff, outside volunteers, churches, grocers, growers, civic groups, other social service providers, and the community as a whole
  • Coordinate communications from CAC and Community Food with all media channels, implement promotional activities, and provide information to the community
  • Ensure Food Bank operations are compliant with all program funding guidelines and COVID-19 protocols, internally and externally
  • Develop, manage, and successfully meet the Community Food program budget
  • Responsible to assure all program records and operations are up to date in compliance with all funding sources
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Coordinate with other private and public agencies to increase services to those with low- to moderate-income
  • Warehouse duties and other agency duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for the supervision, recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and termination of program staff and volunteers as necessary
  • Complete a performance evaluation on each direct report in Community Food, including critical volunteer staff
  • Manager is responsible for CAC volunteer engagement, assuring successful volunteer recruitment, retention, and supervision
  • Interpersonal Contacts :

  • Manager plays a supportive, guiding role in ensuring positive, productive relationships between staff and clients
  • Manager serves as an enthusiastic advocate for CAC
  • Specific Job Skills :

  • Must be able to work effectively within a team-oriented, participatory management environment
  • Carry out a positive, effective leadership role in the agency, community, and over individuals for whom they have direct supervisory responsibility
  • Must have above-average expressive, receptive, and written abilities enabling effective communication between and among individuals and groups in all situations
  • Must have good conflict resolution skills
  • Must have a global perspective with the ability to consider the overall ramifications to the organization of actions and decisions
  • Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Must be computer proficient and have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, with ability to learn platform-specific software for data management and reporting
  • Work effectively with clients from an array of cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds on a regular basis.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge Of :

  • Standard office methods, practices, and procedures
  • Computer spreadsheet and word processing

  • Ability To :

  • Communicate effectively with people from various social, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds
  • Fundraise effectively through various channels, such as virtual and on-site events, mailings, social media, and grant writing
  • Schedule and monitor multiple processes or projects
  • Ability to make decisions using independent judgment and involving many variables
  • Ability to analyze future impact of decisions, and the effects of past decisions
  • Prepare accurate mathematical calculations and financial estimates
  • Read, comprehend, and follow program procedures, regulations, and specifications
  • Ability to write for all levels of readers and to deliver online and public presentations
  • Prepare succinct reports that are understandable to a non-technical person
  • Maintain detailed and accurate project and program files
  • Use computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs
  • Work well under pressure, work independently, and work as an effective team member
  • Education, Certifications and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in sociology, education, social work, or other related field is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human services administration with emphasis on program planning, development, evaluation, and contract administration
  • Three years of experience in food distribution or farming highly preferred, or a combination of education / experience meeting required job qualifications
  • Grant writing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic food safety
  • Daily work occurs in varying temperatures, which may include heat and rain
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, reach, lift and bending; Ability to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and manipulate heavy objects
  • Insurability and ability to be bonded
  • Ability to drive, a valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal transportation
  • Willingness to work throughout Whitman County
