In October 2021, we launched our new ‘Food Club & Opportunity Hub’ to expand efficient, impactful healthy food assistance with the on-site integration of other pathway programs. More recently, we announced a partnership with Dwelling Place to help address the affordable housing crisis here in Holland. In July 2023, we publicly launched our expansion of Lakeshore Food Rescue (www.lakeshorefoodrescue.org).

Position Details
Position Type: Full-time, Regular, 40 hours/week
Overtime Status: Non-exempt
Reports To: Manager, Food Club
Direct Reports: None
Department: Food Access (Food Club, HEAL)
Primary Location: Food Club & Opportunity Hub
Compensation & Benefits: $18.60 - $20 hourly, eligible for full-time benefits
Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective day to day Food Club operations by coordinating volunteers, assisting with food handling & receiving, and providing excellent customer service during member shopping hours with the Food Club Manager. This role serves as the lead for volunteer happenings & needs at each respective program site, operating with a volunteer’s experience in mind. This position will operate as an embedded team member within the Food Club team, while serving as an advocate for our volunteers and representative of the Volunteer Experience team.
\n- Provide outstanding member service during Food Club shopping hours.
- Work collaboratively with a cross functional team to ensure highest member service.
- Assist volunteers at the Checkout Station and fill in as needed.
- Work to ensure an efficient delivery process from food deliveries and other food donors.
- Ensure food is properly stored in a timely and food safe manner (training for this role includes ServSafe or other food handling certification).
- Rotate products and effectively maintain inventory, using the FIFO (‘first in first out’) inventory methodology, and proper food handling.
- Collaborate with the Food Club Manager to identify opportunities and take steps to improve member experiences.
- Ensure and lead daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and organization of work areas.
- Work independently to execute opening and closing procedures of the Food Club store.
- Assist the Food Club Manager with unscheduled and unanticipated tasks as they arise.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate Food Club volunteer schedule, onboarding, daily relationship management and retention efforts in collaboration with the Food Club team and the Volunteer Experience team.
- Connect regularly with the Volunteer Experience core team to keep in touch on volunteer happenings & needs, including but not limited to; new roles, shift changes, group opportunities, performance & behavior issues, etc.
- Maintain the volunteer schedule for the Food Club. Recruit when there are gaps, adjust shift capacity, contact no-shows, etc.
- Ensure effective onsite training, planning, and preparedness is in place for volunteers (and groups, if applicable), in alignment with organizational standards.
- In collaboration with the Volunteer Experience team, deliver volunteer communications for the Food Club program including, but not limited to; respond promptly to daily volunteer messages and requests, assist with technology barriers, and share timely updates & changes.

- General Direction: Receives broad guidance and direction and has some autonomy in decision-making and flexibility in determining how to achieve goals. Supervisor provides support and resources as needed but may not be directly involved in day-to-day decision-making or task assignments.
- 1 years of relevant experience required
- High School Diploma required. Some college preferred.; or in place of a degree, 1 year of experience
- ServSafe Certification required, or willingness to obtain in onboarding
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred
- Passionate about promoting healthy food access and fostering relationships with Food Club’s Guests and Volunteers.
- Ability to prioritize member/volunteer experience and manage multiple tasks independently.
- Working knowledge of food safety, FIFO procedures and safe food handling preferred.
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience in receiving volunteer, guest, customer, or similar party complaints and creativity in problem solving, preferred.
- Familiarity in Google Workspace, and ability to use an Inventory and point of sale (POS) system preferred.
- Fundamental skills in professional communications, including writing and verbal.
