SUMMARY
The Summer Food Driver will be responsible for providing transportation of food for distribution to individuals participating in summer food program services and activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with youth feeding activities, including but not limited to packaging, delivering, and distributing meals. Ensures daily distribution documentation is completed accurately and timely. Assists with the adherence to and enforcement of all safety and sanitation requirements and procedures. Inspects assigned vehicle and coolers/warmers for cleanliness, eliminating obstacles to free passage and reporting safety hazards to supervisor. Conducts random temperature checks of delivered foods to assure quality and adherence to regulations. Oversees workers assigned to assist with food distribution. Completes routine cleaning functions including but not limited to mopping; sweeping; emptying trash; etc. Assists with building maintenance as needed. Regular and punctual attendance on the job. Read, write, and interpret written and verbal instructions. Ability to solve problems with minimal assistance. Prepares for random visits conducted by the US Department of Agriculture, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, Portsmouth City Health Department, Scioto County Department of Job & Family Services, Children’s Hunger Alliance and/or any other program funder. Assists in the creation of a safety culture by working in a safe manner; reports unsafe situations and accidents; follows safety procedures; requests and uses safety equipment and safety techniques; and participates in safety training. Attends program related and professional development seminars/workshops as deemed necessary. Assumes additional duties and responsibilities upon the direction of the department coordinators or Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED required. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, decision making, time management, and organizational skills. Valid Driver’s License, automobile insurance and reliable transportation. Must be able to safely drive a refrigerated box truck. Ability to successfully complete Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Summer Food Service Program training within 2 weeks of hire. Ability to pass an Ohio BCI & FBI background check and comply with agency vaccination policies. Ability to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug/alcohol testing.
WORK CONDITIONS AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS
There is frequent, personal contact with people; exposure to illness and communicable diseases, people with a wide range of physical and mental disabilities, emotionally distraught, communication or memory impaired, confused and irate and those under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Walks on a hard surface in office/kitchen/cafeteria environment. Must stand, sit or walk for long periods of time. Must work in fast-paced environment performing a number of different tasks in a short time period. Work indoors and outdoors, sometimes during the summer months. Must be able to comfortably lift 40 pounds.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED
Computer and data processing equipment. Equipment utilized in commercial kitchen environment. Standard office equipment, including but not limited to, copier machine, fax machine, etc. Agency vehicles, including 12-passenger van, refrigerated and non-refrigerated box truck.
