Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children, and families in three main areas :

Community Health Services : WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
Clinical Health Services : Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.
Supportive Health Services : Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter, and Housing Assistance Programs.

MSHS Assistant Teacher (Infant / Toddler)

Location : Alliance NE, Seasonal, Monday-Friday 8AM to 4 : 30PM, Bilingual Incentive Offered (Spanish / English)

1,000 Hiring Bonus- paid out in $500.00 increments- 1st $500 paid out at halfway through the season. 2nd $500 paid at the end of the season. Hiring bonus will not be paid out if employee withdraws from the position before the halfway mark and / or does not complete the season.

Areas of Responsibility : Assist Teacher to implement the education and family engagement objectives through daily operation of the classroom in accordance with Dept. of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Head Start Performance Standards, Nebraska state childcare licensing, and CAPWN policies & procedures.

Major Duties :

Establish a classroom structure implementing program curriculum to fidelity and developmentally appropriate practices.

Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing educational environment that ensures a quality child development program.

Partner and communicate with families in a skilled, respectful, and sensitive manner to strengthen families as the primary nurturers of their children to enhance growth and development.

Translate communication between program, child and family using family’s primary language when appropriate.

Partner with the teacher to plan and implement individualized activities to support child goals and optimally enhance growth and development.

Partner with the teacher to provide a well-managed program that supports regular communication, program documentation, team goals, and reports in a timely manner.

Effectively use and maintain materials, supplies, equipment, facilities, and grounds; ensure facility meets local, state, and federal requirements.

Encourage volunteer and community involvement and support for the program documented by non-federal match.

Recruit eligible children to ensure full enrollment.

Maintain standards of confidentiality regarding program, children, families, and staff

Participate and contribute to the support of a quality program through participation in team meetings and program assessment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions :

Classroom environment 80%

Training, meetings, and community interactions 20%

Moderate level of supervision; supervises up to two staff.

Occasional out-of-town travel for training.

Will work some evenings and weekend to attend meetings and training.

Physical Requirements :

Must complete health physical upon entry to program and yearly health screenings.

Must complete TB titer and DTAP vaccination or show proof of completion.

Must be able to move about, getting up and down from floor play with children.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications :

Must be age 18 or above

Must obtain a Child Development Associates credential within 24 months of hire.

Basic level of computer knowledge.

Experience in working with families from various ethnic backgrounds is preferred.

Current Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED card or must be able to acquire within three months.

6. Complete 15 contact hours of education annually in subject matter related to position.

2. AA with CDA or 6 classes in Early Childhood or AA in Early Childhood.

Grade : 12

1. Meet the minimum requirements above

2. BA in Education or related field and CDA in 6 months.

1. Meet the minimum requirements in Grade 9 : 1-6 and

BA in Early Childhood
