Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:
- Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
- Clinical Health Services: Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.

LPN Psychiatric Services
Areas of Responsibility: Function as LPN in the provision of psychiatric service, medication assisted treatment and educational/screening programs.
Major Duties:
- Work within the LPN’s scope of practice performing skills including, but not limited to; administering medications, administering injections, assist with procedures, data collection and reporting, basic lab and sample collection, case management and nursing duties associated with medication management and medication assisted treatment modalities, etc.
- Utilize basic medical knowledge to assist with the external referral process, assist with medication refills, answer phone messages. Function as an integral team member, assist in the provision of care, conduct preventative screenings and assessments, and provide care that is “accessible, continuous, comprehensive, evidence-based, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective.”
- Assists the providers in the coordination of patient Psychiatric Services.
- Provides Adherence Counseling for Psychiatric Service patients.
- Provides care management for Psychiatric Service patients.
- Orders and administers medications according to written, verbal, and electronic orders.
- Maintains a current, accurate inventory of all Psychiatric Service medications.
- Assists patients with completing appropriate applications when eligible for patient assistance medication programs.
- Coordinates and monitors the need for reordering medications from patient assistance medication programs.
- Monitors and orders supplies for Psychiatric Services when needed.
- Assists with Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PMDP's), and other Psychiatric Services programs as requested.
- Provides and documents education to patients and caregivers about psychotropic and related medications.
- Acts as a liaison between internal staff and external health care services (i.e., Referrals, Intensive Outpatient Therapy etc.).
- Completes all documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Participate in the ongoing Quality Assurance and Improvement initiatives.
- Effectively communicates while interacting with patients, patient families and staff.
- Prepare and submit program reports as requested.
- Maintain current BLS (Basic Life Support) / CPR (Cardiopulmonary Recusation.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and communications following CAPWN policy and HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Well-lit, temperature-controlled clinical setting, with standard medical and office equipment available.
- Work may require meeting tight deadlines.
- Work within a program in a state of change with multiple interruptions and interactions.
- May work irregular hours and attend out of town training.
- The noise level in the work environment is average.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, stand and walk.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office and medical equipment.
- Must regularly talk, hear, and have close vision ability to record and communicate appropriate documents and records.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Physically able to reposition patients and lift arms above shoulder level.
- Physically able to push a patient in a wheelchair.
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade: 12
- Current LPN license.
- LPN nursing experience or one year’s psychiatric services nursing experience – Preferred.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license with good driving record and insured vehicle.
Grade: 13
- Meet the minimum qualifications above.
- Three years RN nursing experience or two year psychiatric services nursing experience – Preferred.
Grade: 14
- Meet the minimum qualifications above;
- Five years RN nursing experience or three years psychiatric nursing experience – Preferred
