Community Action Head Start is looking for dynamic Family Engagement Specialist – Bilingual Spanish to join us! In this role, our Family Engagement Specialist will work with children, families, and team members to enhance family well-being, promote positive parent-child relationships, and support families in a variety of areas.
We are looking for someone that loves working with young children and is passionate about providing all the resources necessary to positively impact the development of children. Our team members have the unique opportunity to support children and families from at-risk backgrounds reach their goals and achieve success.
Pay Rate: $19.02/hr
The Role:
- Coordinate the comprehensive Head Start services to families as they relate to early childhood education, health, mental health, social-emotional and parent education services.
- Partner with teaching and administrative staff to develop and implement family engagement opportunities that enhance family well-being.
- Assist families in identifying and achieving goals related to child development and family relationships.
- Conduct center and home visits with enrolled families throughout the year, completing enrollment information, family assessments, family goal plans, and structured family learning opportunities.
- Support families as needed to address crisis events that may impact a child’s regular participation in the program and/or relate to basic family needs.
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team communicating families’ progress and needs planning for services
- Provide interpretation and translate information and communication for Spanish-speaking families.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Social Work (preferred) or a related field (Education, Child, Youth and Family Studies, Counseling).
- Bilingual in Spanish required - able to read, write, and communicate Spanish and English effectively.
- Two years’ experience working with families in a community-based, culturally and/or socio-economically diverse, family-centered program.
- Previous Head Start or Early Childhood Experience preferred .
- Valid Nebraska Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle and good driving record required.
- Sensitivity to the experiences, needs, and strengths of low-income and diverse populations, and individuals with disabilities.
