SUMMARY: The Informational and Referral (I&R) Specialist I is responsible for providing confidential, appropriate, unbiased health and social service information, referrals, and advocacy to the public by telephone, bi-directional texting, and live chat. The I&R Specialist I will track gaps in services, assist callers with questions, appointment needs, and be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the 2-1-1 Kern resource database. This position is expected to be knowledgeable in call handling procedures and ensure customer service is provided across all campaigns and contracted counties.
2-1-1 Kern operates 24/7, 365 days a year, offering a variety of shift options. Work schedules may include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Employees may be called upon to assist and support after-hours staff as needed. Required to be available during declared emergencies to perform duties as directed by the 2-1-1 Program Manager.
