Program and Location: RYDE Transit - Hastings
Position Summary: The Dispatcher/Driver is responsible to and under the direct supervision of the Transit Coordinator and/or his or her designee.
Responsibilities:
Ensure timely, dependable, cost effective operation of transit vehicles.
Continually monitor transit service to ensure most efficient utilization.
Maintain effective communication between drivers and other staff regarding safe and efficient operations of transit vehicles.
Monitor system to ensure passengers are picked up and dropped off in a timely manner.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in communicating with all contacts.
Safety of all passengers: enforcement of the use all policies pertaining to the safe and efficient operations of transit vehicles.
Adherence to all laws governing the operations of motor vehicles in the state of Nebraska.
Customer service agent for the agency.
Tasks and Duties:
Receive and schedule incoming requests from passengers for ride scheduling
Help resolve passenger concerns and complaints.
Perform duties of driver, as needed and when tasked with operating transit vehicles, obey all laws governing the operations of transit vehicles in the state of Nebraska.
When tasked with operating transit vehicles, enforcement of the use of all policies pertaining to the safe and efficient operations of transit vehicles.
Prepare, maintain, and submit in a timely fashion, reports as needed by various agency departments.
Provide safe transportation for the general public.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or his/her designee.
Qualifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid Nebraska Drivers License.
Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing Drug and Alcohol screen.
Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing Department of Motor Vehicles Record Check.
Must pass a pre-employment and ongoing Central Registry Check.
Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel and lift.
Must be able to properly operate and maintain various vehicles in the agency fleet.
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of computers and related programs.
Must have comprehensive time management skills.
Must have a high degree of customer service skills.
Must keep all agency matters confidential.
Required Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and be able to multi task.
Strong organizational and record keeping ability.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Promote a positive and enthusiastic image.
Bilingual fluency preferred, but not required
Relates to and communicates with various personalities and posses an awareness of human needs.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public as well as other agency employees.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Experience in Dispatching and Scheduling preferred.
Schedule/Hours: Part-time position. Typical work hours are between 8:00am to 5:00pm – Monday thru Friday.
Pay Rate: starting hourly wage of $16.00.
