Position: Teacher Aide
Program and Location: Head Start, Holdrege
Position Summary: The Teacher Aide is responsible for providing teacher support in the classroom. The Teacher Aide also provides a safe, pleasant, active learning, and problem-solving environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assume the role of Teacher or Teacher Assistant during absences.
- Assist in classroom management and lesson planning/implementation.
- Assist in implementation of the curriculum including active learning and practices that are developmentally appropriate.
- Assist in implementation of oral health practices.
- Be actively engaged in all Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior
Tasks and Duties:
- Assist in daily classroom activities and provide classroom support.
- Assist with completion of Child Development Plans, if applicable.
- Assist in ensuring ongoing and end of the year transition activities occur.
- Assist teacher in ensuring that the child growth assessments are completed.
- Assist in tracking daily attendance.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in a child care environment.
Required Skills:
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public and agency employees
- Excellent communication skills
- Model appropriate and professional behavior
Schedule/Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday during the school year. Hours are 8:00 am to 3:30 pm with some flexibility in the schedule if needed. Position can lead to a great opportunity for the right candidate to work towards becoming a Head Start Teacher! Head Start will provide, and pay for, a CDA certification and AA classes to meet the educational requirements to become a Teacher!
Pay Rate: The starting base rate of pay per hour is $15.25. Additional compensation will be considered for individuals with a CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education.
