Client Services, Employment Readiness Program
Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County's (CAP-HC's) Employment Readiness Program assists residents with lower incomes in attaining living-wage jobs and removing employment barriers. The program includes resume support, interview readiness training, finding job leads, and maintaining employment.
Position Summary
The Employment Services Coordinator provides services to participants through assessment, counseling, educational planning, and job development. They help people overcome challenges, set training, and career goals that lead to self-sufficiency. The employment services coordinator offers support and encouragement for participants as they work to achieve their goals and after they obtain employment. The coordinator also provides services in the way that best serves their participants, which may be in person or remotely using email, telephone, and teleconferencing technologies. Additionally, the employment services coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing programs which include developing training materials, reporting, outreach, recruitment and engaging with community partners.
Responsibilities
- Participant Services : Conduct screenings to determine eligibility for the program, complete intakes, and enrollment. Accurately assess clients' interests, aptitude, skills, motivation, and barriers to employment to determine work readiness. Develop individual employment plans and assist participants in accessing the public and private resources to meet goals outlined in the plan. Help participants develop and strengthen work behaviors and employability. Ensure services provided are culturally responsive utilizing best practices.
- Training : Develop and conduct small-group job search skills and basic re-employment skills training sessions. Provides individuals with job counseling, job preparation, job search, interview readiness, and / or support services in attempts to match clients with available employment, training, or other opportunities. Facilitate employment readiness training using the curriculum, Getting Ahead in a Just-gettin-by World : Building Your Resources for a Better Life.
- Outreach and Partnerships : Educate businesses and community at large about the Employment Readiness Program CAP-HC and other agency services. Establish effective relationships with area training institutions to increase participants skill levels and job market competitiveness. Research employment opportunities and network with employers to assist clients with job search. Market the program to potential clients, community agencies and organizations, and educational institutions. Collaborate with community partners to achieve favorable employment outcomes for the individuals being served. Such partners would include employment providers, social services, industry representatives, and education providers.
- Budgeting and Cost Control : Monitor and manage the budget for the Employment Readiness Program. Distribute incentives and support services in accordance with agency guidelines and policies.
- Program Management : Develop, organize, and maintain files, functions, workflows. Maintain organized and accurate detailed records of files and data entry in client management systems. Track and report outcomes. Comply with program and agency guidelines.
- Team Leadership : Provide training or support as needed. Diagnosing and troubleshoot issues and provide input on program guidelines, practices, etc. Work in collaboration with the team and leadership to enhance the program. Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects.
