You'll join a team of talented and passionate people who are motivated to make our community as strong and resilient as possible.

HOURS : Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Housing Support Specialist oversees daily progress of participants in their specific housing programs.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITES :

  • Works with the Housing Stabilization & Homeless Outreach Manager and Operations Specialist to create a housing stability plan, prioritize and enroll participants selected by the Coordinated Entry System into housing programs they qualify for.
  • Supports the day to day needs of enrolled participants, ensuring that they meet the goals established in the Housing Stability plan.
  • Assist staff to enroll eligible participants into Step down rental assistance program.
  • Responsible for keeping all case files and related purchase orders for participants up to date and accurate.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state and agency policies and procedures for effective implementation of program goals and objectives, including HMIS requirements.
  • Attends appropriate training and workshops that are beneficial to the mission of the program.

  • Maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff per CAPBM policy and procedure. Adhere strictly to the confidentiality of clients, co-workers, and internal business information.
  • Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CAPBM.
  • Follow established policies and procedures and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with the supervisor regarding workflow, problems, suggestions, etc.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment; and attend team and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Be punctual for scheduled work, use time appropriately, and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal errors.

  • Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Experience :

  • Two years of professional or personal experience with homelessness or housing instability; with strong understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively and empathetically with diverse individuals and stakeholders within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively within CAPBM.
  • Proficiency in using technology and databases for data entry, recordkeeping, and reporting purposes within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
  • Compassionate, patient, and non-judgmental approach towards individuals experiencing homelessness within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and service providers in the housing and homelessness sector within the Belknap-Merrimack area.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in working with sensitive client information within CAPBM.
  • Ability to work both in the office and in the field, requiring significant time on your feet.
  • Strong knowledge of homelessness issues, housing resources, and the Coordinated Entry System within the Belknap-Merrimack community.
  • Education :

  • Associate's degree in human services. Education requirement may be substituted for related education and one additional year of required experience; to be determined by Director of Strategy & Planning.
  • Education and / or training relating to human services such as counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy, information and referral, or similar activities.
  • License / Certification :

  • Successful completion of criminal record check.
  • Valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation for required travel.
