HOURS: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Eligible for $1500-$2000 sign-on incentive
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting all teaching staff through a variety of activities, including coverage for teacher planning time, transition/napping and substitute teaching as necessary.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assists with the preparation of the daily and weekly program activities, considering the needs of children in full day/full year programming.
- Participates in the daily activities planned for the children.
- Assists in carrying out developmentally appropriate individual activities/experiences for specific children.
- Demonstrates interactions with children that are responsive, respectful, and supportive of their play interests.
- Follows the system in place to actively supervise children in their care at all times. Adheres to the Supervision of Children policy and zoning procedures inside and outside of the classroom.
- Assists in daily classroom routines, such as food preparation, diapering, toileting, tooth brushing and nap time.
- Assists with the ongoing clean-up and organization of the classroom to ensure that all areas are clea and organized each day.
- Greets parents warmly at drop-off and pick-up and facilitates a smooth transition between home and center.
- Participates in the ongoing review of classroom activities and children’s behavior when applicable.
- Is responsible for paperwork documentation as assigned by the Lead Teacher.
- Becomes familiar with center policies, Performance Standards and NH Child Care Licensing Standards.
- Consults with the Lead Teacher when problems arise.
- Adjusts to changes in daily schedule and room assignments as necessary.
- Maintains flexibility regarding the multi-tasking necessary in a float position.
- Continues to gain knowledge and expertise in child development and early childhood education, the principles of child health, disability, safety, and nutrition, adult learning principles, and family dynamics.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience working with infants and toddlers a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate with infants, toddlers, family members and other staff.
- Fluency in language spoken primarily by the majority of Early Head Start families.
- Basic computer literacy skills.
- Ability to anticipate and respond positively to continuous change and challenge.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalency credential.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for infant and toddler caregivers (or working towards CDA/Degree with at least 9 ECE credits.
License/Certification:
- Successful completion of criminal record check.
- A current physical examination report must be kept on file.
- Valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation for required travel.
