Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Aide to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities within a residential setting. This position requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents while ensuring their rights and dignity are upheld.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, hygiene, and medication reminders.
- Promote residents' rights by ensuring a respectful and safe environment for all individuals.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support clients' emotional and behavioral needs as necessary.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, which includes clinicians, case managers, and other staff members.
- Complete shift communication logs and other documentation to enhance program efficiency.
- Continuously observe and monitor clients' behaviors and symptoms in order to assess for potential crises.
- Provide emotional first aid and debriefing to individuals and groups following behavioral escalations.
- Apply crisis intervention techniques and strategies to de-escalate situations and promote safety.
- Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the property.
- Maintain a compliant and safe environment of care, including stocking supplies, setting up rooms for admission, and performing general cleaning.
- Process admissions promptly, in an organized and client-centered manner.
- Ensure that anyone entering the unit is free of contraband.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Dipolma
- Experience working with people with a range of mental health challenges is preferred.
- Ability to manage behaviors effectively and compassionately in various situations.
- A valid driver’s license is required for transportation responsibilities, when needed.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- A caring attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of those you serve is crucial for success in this role.
