What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Support Specialist position at COMMUNITY AND FAMILY SERVICES FOUNDATION?
Established in 2000, Community and Family Services Foundation (CFSF) is a non-profit private foster care agency; we license and support foster homes across Washington State. Our Mission is to provide opportunity for every child to achieve permanency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have two years documented proof of experience working with children OR an AA in social work or related field with 1-year documented proof of working with children OR a BA in social work or related field and at least 6 months documented proof of experience working with children.
- Be able to complete and pass a criminal background check.
- Possess valid Driver’s License and a favorable driving record.
- Carry automobile liability insurance ($100,000/$300,000 and 100,000 property damage).
- Possess current certification or have ability to obtain current certification in CPR, First Aid and HIV/BBP within two weeks of hire date.
- Within previous 12 months or within two weeks of hire date produce proof of TB test (skin text by Mantoux method of testing) with acceptable reading or proof showing the requirements of WAC 388-148-0345 (Tuberculosis) have been met.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mandatory reporting requirements, with completion of Incident Report when appropriate, must be followed. Immediately report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the Case Manager, or if after hours, the on-call Case Manager.
- Review Treatment Plan and other necessary documents prior to beginning assignment.
- Provide appropriate level of supervision for assigned child in home or community.
- Transport to and attend events and activities in the community as indicated by Case Manager or Visitation/Case Aide Supervisor.
- Assist with homework, chores, and Independent Living Skills training.
- Assist in developing youth’s strengths and interests and help enroll in extra-curricular activities.
- Complete paperwork and required documentation (visit reports, service sheets, timesheets, no-show form, etc.) and submit in Sprout or to Visitation/Case Aide Supervisor within timeline requirements.
- Immediately notify Case Manager of crisis such as running away, assault, serious illness, etc. Complete a written incident report and submit to Case Manager within 24 hours of incident.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings, staffing and/or team meetings, as requested.
- Meet or exceed the min 30 annual training hours required for this position.
