Position Summary
The Family Allies Child Welfare Specialist adheres to the BFP System of Care principles of practice and works as a vital team member to provide support services to the Care Managers within an assigned Care Center. The Child Welfare Specialist will be responsible for assisting Care Managers with monitoring of the balance and developing spending plans for children with Master Trust Funds, providing coaching and mentoring for Care Manager staff as they go through the CFSR & RSF process, tracking of CFSRs, RSFs, missing child tracking Psych Meds, Medical & Dental, and validations of parent, child, and care giver contacts made by the Care Manager. The Child Welfare Specialist will also be responsible for completion of background checks, diligent searches, and family finding for purposes of placement and ICPC / OCS home studies, and coordination and facilitation of staffing’s including permanency, CLS, MDS, etc. The Child Welfare Specialist will act as an overall support and a go to person for the units in which they are assigned to and to help alleviate the workload of the Care Managers. The Child Welfare Specialist will hold a current certification with the Florida Certification Board for Child Welfare Case Management.
Technical / Functional Expectations
- Technical Assistance and Guidance – This position provides technical assistance and guidance to case management and other key stakeholders with regards to FSFN and any process improvements in the System of Care.
- Support and Specialized Individual Training Case Management : The position supports and provides specialized individual training to case management staff including the coaching and mentoring of new staff.
- Safety Decision making Methodology : This position must demonstrate proficiency in Safety Decision making Methodology and possess core competencies required for training and guiding staff.
- Other duties as required : Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.
- Support : Provide support to staff, children, caregivers and family members to assure stable placement and timely achievement of permanency; Coordinate with the team members, providers, DCF and attorneys as needed.
