Starting Salary : $45,000 / yr
Position Summary :
The Family Finder position’s primary role will be to act as the centralized point of contact for Seminole, Orange, and Osceola counties for all related duties in searching for immediate and extended family members of children involved in the dependency system. The Family Finder position will assist case management to explore all family connections and assess the willingness / availability of family members to participate in the dependency case process to offer the best placements for the children in care. They will connect extended family and informal supports to the family to work with improving safety concerns, permanency, and well-being of children. This position will also support the kinship peer support specialists in providing assistance to kinship caregivers as needed and as capacity allows. The Family Finding position related duties will include diligent searches, participating in case transfer staffings, data entry, searching for relatives and extended family members, reporting, and reconciliation of information while working alongside the Case Management Agencies.
Technical / Functional Expectations :
- Family Finding : Perform detailed search of immediate family members and extended family members to complete family trees and identify possible relative placements and supports for children in care.
- Diligent Search : Assist case management in the completion of diligent searches on absent parents or relatives on dependency cases.
- Internet Proficient : The ability to utilize multiple internet search engines as well as social media to conduct searches to identify and contact family members.
- Data Integrity : Assists and provides internal controls in order to authenticate data integrity. Documents family finding efforts into statewide and ancillary databases.
- Meeting Attendance : Attends staff meetings, in-service trainings and other meetings or conferences as necessary in order to share and gather information.
- Assist kinship peer support positions : Provide assistance to kinship caregivers as needed and as capacity allows; which could include assisting the caregiver in applying for benefits, referring to level 1, linking kinship caregivers to local resources
- Other duties as required : Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing or covering duties of other members in the child welfare system from time to time for ongoing growth and development.
