Position Summary: The Family Stabilization Supervisor works collaboratively with the Department of Children and Families as a liaison and resource to Child Protective Investigators (CPIs) to ensure services are provided in a timely manner in accordance with agency operating procedures and to screen and prioritize assignments of families to select staff. This position supervises the Resource Coordinator and the Family Assessment Specialist. The Family Stabilization Supervisor also provides support in Clinical cases where the CPIs need consultation on substance abuse, behavioral health, and mental health. This position develops and maintains strong working relationships with community agencies to successfully divert families from entering the child welfare system in a solution focused manner. The Family Stabilization Supervisor enters case activity into FSFN, offers consultation to CPIs, and attends staffing’s. This position produces necessary reports on utilization in a culturally competent, flexible, and responsive service delivery system. The Family Stabilization Supervisor is responsible for monitoring deliverables and program outcomes, providing clinical expertise, consultation, and team oversight to ensure family recommendations are based on identified need, strength based and according to family capabilities.
Technical/Functional Expectations:
- Safety Planning - Essential Function: This position works with the CPI team to link directly to additional supports that can be offered to make an effective Safety Plan. Some of these supports include the use of other immediate services such as the Mobile Response Team, the Safety Management Team and additional child welfare certified staff with specific expertise in safety plan monitoring. This position ensures interim safety plan and follow up development to protect clients and agency's best interests by reviewing current present danger plans and helping make the final safety determination for the families served on the team.
- Conducts Safety/Risk Assessments - Essential Function: This position supports the CPI team in making healthy risk decisions that would otherwise result in a removal of the children for the home. This positions review intake reports received by DCF daily to assess opportunities to assist the CPI team in the areas of mental health, behavioral health, and substance abuse.
- Outreach and Collaboration - Essential Function: Participate in weekly collaborative meetings with providers and DCF to review progress of the assigned cases as well as discuss opportunities for the team to be included on existing cases. Provides specific coaching to the team to help increase their ability to identify and create natural supports for the families served
- Knowledge of Safety Decision Making Methodology - Essential Function: This position must possess strong knowledge of Safety Decision Making Methodology. This position receives Family Support referrals, assists with family engagement, and provides case consultation. This position engages in joint home visits with Child Protective Investigators when indicated.
- Intake Management and Timely Service Referrals - Essential Function: The Clinical Services Specialist is responsible for managing the intake of referral and coordination of staffing with Child Protective Investigators.
- FSFN Documentation Case Activity - Essential Function: Brevard C.A.R.E.S. maintains a case record for each family served and documents all case activity into FSFN. This position ensures that case documentation complies with all legal requirements and contains information necessary to provide services. Brevard C.A.R.E.S. complies with case record guideline and best practice standards related to documentation of case elements.

- 4 years of Child Welfare Experience: This position will act as a coordinator of services pending family needs as well as provide community linkages. Extensive knowledge of community resources is essential.
- Child Protection Certified state of Florida: This position will be co-located and work in conjunction with the Child Protective Investigators for children and families, whom are at risk for abuse, neglect or abandonment.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills: Effective communication skills are essential to work within multiple parties, drive to consensus and support the needs of children and families.
- Clinical Oversight and Clinical Integrity: The Clinical Service Specialist is responsible for ensuring the clinical integrity of services authorized and provided to ensure that intervention matches family needs.
- Valid Driver's License-Essential: This position requires a valid Driver's License to travel within the County and for external meetings.
- BA/BS - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
- MA/MS - Psychology, Social Work or Human Services preferred.
- Child Welfare Certified by Florida Certification Board required.
- Minimum 2 years related experience required.
