Community Based Services is a non-profit organization providing services to people with disabilities in the Hudson Valley and Capital Regions. Community Based Services is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic accounting professional to perform day-to-day accounting operations of a not-for-profit organization that provides services to individuals with disabilities in the Hudson Valley and Capital Regions of New York State.
The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of diverse accounting experience in the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) non-profit accounting operations. Supervisory experience preferred but not required.
Job Duties:
· Oversee financial operations including day to day transactions and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations
· Perform accounting reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
· Prepare monthly closing journal entries
· Provide monthly reporting to Fiscal Intermediaries
· Handle Insurance requests and assist with annual renewal
· Provide assistance to program staff in the development and compliance of program grants and contracts; monitoring programs to ensure compliance
· Serve as a liaison to other departments for accounting-related matters and assist with any requests
· Support Finance department staff members including Accounts Payable and Payroll
· Assist with the program specific analysis
· Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure timely completion of audit requirements
· Assist the Chief Financial Officer with the preparation of the monthly financial and operating reports, annual budget and Consolidated Fiscal Reporting to the oversight agency, Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD)
· Complete any other projects or duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer
Skills:
· Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
· Knowledge and three years' experience in Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) accounting, preferred
· Computer proficiency, using Microsoft Office and accounting software
· Excellent and clear communication skills
· Aptitude for working in team environment
Salary- $80,000 per year
