Position Description

The Program Development Director at Community Bible Study (CBS) is a key leadership role and oversees program offerings for our global CBS groups.  The Program Development Director will lead a team of program specialists dedicated to developing and refining existing offerings, ensuring the offerings both stay true to our mission and vision and meet the needs of the field.  The Program Development Director will be responsible for safeguarding CBS’s theological and biblical position while leading a team to innovate new expressions of in-depth Bible study and ensuring the mission effectiveness of all programs.

 

Responsibilities

General:

  • Advocate for biblical disciple-making of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds around the globe.
  • Proactively promote and defend the ministry's vision, mission, and values in interactions with staff, leaders, donors, class participants, and other constituents.
  • Maintain regular intercessory prayer for the field ministry, its leaders, and associated projects.
  • Serve as an active member of the CBS leadership team, attending scheduled meetings and providing valuable input to shape the ministry's strategic direction.

Lead the Program Team:

  • Supervise, coach, and shepherd a team of program specialists in the office and remotely.
  • Oversee the implementation of all current CBS programs globally, including traditional CBS, Spoken CBS, CBS Connect, Children & Youth, Engaging God’s Word, and other related expressions.

Field Empathy:

  • Employ end-user design to gather ongoing field feedback on program offerings.
  • Lead innovation to refine and develop new study programs and materials.
  • Design, collect, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to understand and evaluate a program’s effectiveness.

Program Development and Design and Mode of Distribution:

  • Oversee the development and design of existing and new programs at CBS.
  • Lead program development that aligns with field needs, utilizing design thinking and end-user empathy.
  • Ensure current and new curriculum and methodologies retain CBS distinctives and are theologically neutral.
  • Review (or oversee the review) of curriculum and manuals used in the field.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and produce CBS-branded digital and printed materials.
  • Manage the translation of curriculum and materials, optimizing for efficiency and process improvement.

Training:

  • Develop and implement ongoing training programs for CBS program trainers.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors to facilitate the regional implementation of new program training initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills, and Qualities

Additionally, we seek someone with the following qualifications, skills, and qualities:

  • Advanced theological degree preferred.
  • Significant experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs is essential.
  • Experience with curriculum development and design is crucial.
  • Experience with both digital and printed materials production is needed.
  • Proven experience in supervising, coaching, and shepherding a team, both in-office and remotely.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with diverse constituents.
  • A strong understanding of biblical principles and theological neutrality is critical.
  • Experience in safeguarding theological positions and ensuring mission effectiveness.

Global Ministry Experience"

  • Experience working in a global ministry context is highly desirable, given the global reach of CBS.
  • Experience with translation processes and cultural sensitivity is very important.
  • Experience in developing and implementing training programs, particularly for trainers.
  • Experience in facilitating regional implementation of training initiatives.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Experience utilizing design thinking and end-user empathy in program development.

Other

  • Reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Work Location: CBS Ministry Service Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
  • Periodic overnight travel inside the United States.
  • Occasional travel outside the United States may be required.
  • Must reside and work in the U.S.
  • Must have a valid passport.

Starting Salary Range

  • Annual salary range: $100,000 - $105,000

Salary : $100,000 - $105,000
