Safety Launch Operator
Position Type: Temporary Part-Time, Temporary Full-Time Pay Rate: $19.75-$20.50/hr
Reports to: Shift Supervisor, Director of Auxiliary Services
The Safety Launch Operator is responsible for supporting operations by providing ferry service between vessels and shore facilities, and responding to routine, urgent, and emergency situations on the water.
Candidates must be able to:
- Obtain and maintain a license as, at minimum, a USCG Limited-OUPV credential.
- Communicate, read, and write effectively in English.
- Demonstrate mastery of powerboat handling skills.
- Demonstrate basic sailing skills.
- Operate radio communications equipment.
- Maintain written documentation of activities performed on shift.
- Lift 75 lbs from the ground to table height, drag 100lbs 10 feet on the ground and carry 50 lbs for 100 feet
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Ensuring the safety of all participants on and off the water by performing routine safety checks, responding to incidents, and identifying and correcting hazardous situations.
Transporting participants to and from vessels on the water.
Assisting other staff in the completion of their duties. Acting as a leader and role model.
Solving problems proactively and coordinating daily shift tasks or teams at the discretion of the Dockmaster.
Inspecting safety equipment for proper function, ensuring their assigned rescue boat is in good working condition, clean, and carrying appropriate supplies and equipment.
Maintaining chain of command at all times during routine and emergency operations.
Other tasks and duties assigned by Directors and Dockmasters.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $19.75 - $20.50 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 30 per week

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- No nights
- Weekends as needed
Experience:
- powerboat operating: 5 years (Required)
Language:
- English (Required)
- any other languages (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- USCG Limited OUPV or higher (Required)
