Community Brain Injury Services (CBIS) is a private non-profit agency serving individuals with brain injuries in the Metro Richmond, Tri-Cities, South of Richmond, and Hampton Roads’ Peninsula and Middle Peninsula areas.
At Community Brain Injury Services we serve individuals that have sustained a life altering brain injury. We work with individuals to regain independence, rebuild self-confidence, fully re-engage in their community, and connect to resources needed to live safely and independently.
We are currently hiring for a case manager for our Virginia Hampton Roads Peninsula service area. Because this position will require working mostly based remotely out of a home-based office and traveling within these communities for appointments with clients, preference will be given to candidates who reside within or adjacent to one of those communities. The Peninsula cities and counties we serve are: Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, York, James City, and Poquoson.
The Position:
The Case Manager position will require a candidate to work mostly out of a home-based office, with some days worked in person in our Newport News program and two days a month in our office in Richmond. This is a community-based case manager position which requires the position to meet clients where they are in the community, throughout the service area. A successful candidate will be a self-starter skilled at working independently. There is also a continued emphasis on building relationships with referral sources and developing a network of resources for survivors of brain injury in the communities we serve.
The Position:
Full-time case managers at CBIS provide case management services to adults with brain injury. Responsibilities include: conducting intake/assessment of service needs, coordination of services among providers, development/monitoring of service plans, as well as advocacy, consultation, and education for clients, families, and the community. This is a community-based case manager position which requires the individual to meet clients where they are in the community and throughout the service area. An agency vehicle will be provided for work purposes so maintaining an excellent driving record is a must.
An eligible candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education, or closely related field. This position also requires a minimum of two years of case management experience OR experience working with persons with disabilities. A valid driver’s license, good DMV record, and access to a reliable personal vehicle are also required. Mileage reimbursement provided if using personal vehicle but majority of work related transportation will occur in agency vehicle.
The starting, probationary salary for this position is $45,000/annually, which increases to $47,500/annually as of 7/01/25, at the successful conclusion of the probationary period. Additionally, a $1500 retention bonus will be offered in $500 increments at 3 months, 6 months, and 9 months of employment.
