Peer Specialist AGOP (Part Time)POSITION SUMMARY : We are looking for a Certified Peer Specialist to assist individuals in the Adult General Outpatient Program (AGOP) -with increasing understanding of their diagnosis, improving connection to the community and fostering self-determination, motivation and hope for the future.EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED : Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist with, at least, one year of experience working with individuals who are diagnosed with mental health, substance use and / or co-occurring disorders.Lived experience with substance use and / or behavioral health diagnosis.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of RI minimum requirements of auto insurance (including a 100 / 300 K Rider) to utilize your automobile for work purposes. WORKING CONDITIONS : Ability to be a self-starter, attend to multiple tasks simultaneously, work with minimal supervision, and continually seeks new / better methods to organize / complete work.Effectively accomplish duties by working with others, including team members, other CCA staff and / or outside agencies.Regularly available for work, reliable and on time for all appointments and meetings scheduled.Ability to move within the building and community to meet with clients, team members or accessing supplies to attend to client needs.Ability to transport clients and perform visits in the home and community.Demonstrates competency in clinical / technical or administrative skills, procedures, methods, and tools required to perform the job successfully. JOB DUTIES / EXPECTATIONS : Provide support and advocacy for individuals in recovery (spanning both the mental health and substance use spectrum) through use of one’s own lived experience with mental health and or substance use.Build rapport with individuals engaged in the Adult General Outpatient Program through use of validation, empathy and sharing their own lived experience, as appropriate.Assist clients in identification of recovery goals and in development of a plan to achieve them.Provide community resources that will enable individuals to increase connection to others in their area of residence, increase meaningful activity and assist with meeting basic needs.Encourage and model use of coping skills.Encourage values including, but no limited to, increased independence, self-determination and empowerment to provide individuals hope for the future.Run and / or co-facilitate recovery groups.Meet with family members who have loved ones struggling with mental health and / or substance use concerns to provide connection, validation and education.To apply for this opening please visit our website http : / / www.communitycareri.org and select "Careers" and then "Current Openings" to fill out an application and upload your cover letter and resume.About UsCommunity Care Alliance provides an array of services and supports that are linked together so people can access help for their unique situations.
