EMT Paramedic - Chase Unit

Description

Paramedics respond in a non-transporting ALS stocked vehicle and provide advanced medical care for patients who require ALS treatment and transport. The purpose of this position is to focus employees with ALS skill levels to patients requiring advanced care.

Community Care Ambulance (CCA) founded in 1994, is a nonprofit that is an innovative and reputable provider of 911 emergency and non-emergency medical transportation services throughout northeast Ohio. CCA is in search of highly motivated and dependable Paramedics like you!

Perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic in a safe, dignified, and compassionate manner including but not limited to:

• Follow the regulations, laws, and standards in accordance with the State of Ohio Revised Code for EMS and Medical Transportation
• Understand and follow the policies, procedures and rules of Community Care Ambulance
• Understand how to access, and follow local, state, and regional medical care and transportation protocols.
• Respond to emergent and non-emergent transport requests calmly, efficiently, and promptly.
• Administer Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to patients at the scene, enroute to a hospital, in a pre-hospital care setting, and in conjunction with medical protocols and the CCA Medical Directors.
• Assess the nature and extent of an injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
• Promote and perform effective and respectful communications with other medical professionals to obtain instructions for further treatment.
• Safe driving of emergency vehicles adhering to traffic laws, rules and regulations, and CCA policies.
• Support an Integrated Safety Management System and a Safety-First philosophy
• Maintain continual competency of safety and clinical knowledge and skills.
• Complete patient care records, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all required forms in a competent, legible and timely fashion.  These should be completed objectively with facts not subjective opinion.
• Adhere to and follow safety, blood-borne and airborne pathogens policies, procedures and exposure control plans Educate and train personnel, trainees, and the public in a manner that encourages positivity, safety and competence.
• Attend mandatory education and training sessions and Annual Skills Day.
• Medical Director educational offerings are highly encouraged to attend.
• Follow Quality Assurance plans for chart completion, documentation, Medical Director Review, and Quality Improvement Plans.  Report charts requiring or chosen for Medical Director Review to the Leader-On-Call (LOC).
• Follow and participate in Safety Systems, goals, safety process improvement, and safety event review needs.
• Ensure professional use of approved radio language during radio conversations. 

• Ensure that vehicles are always in good working condition and secured; reporting issues early to ensure high quality maintenance and safety. This includes vehicle equipment checks being up-to-date, ambulance stock checked daily, and ambulance bags checked every shift.  The equipment should be disinfected, well-stocked and in good working order. Disinfect, clean, organize, and restock to always ensure a ready state.
• Maintain appropriate equipment, stock, bag, and medication checklists
• Maintain annual continuing medical education credits set forth by the Ohio Revised Code
• Following all guidelines and policies regarding the use of Narcotics.
• Work within the Ohio Paramedic Scope of Practice

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience –

• Current State of Ohio EMTP certification
• 18 Years of age or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License and be able to meet CCA’s Insurability requirements
• Must have the ability to meet or exceed the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from AHA, ARC, or HSI
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from AHA, ARC, or HSI
• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) from AHA, ARC, or HSI
