Chauffeur Driver – Nursing Home Resident Scheduling and Transport

Responsibilities

· Safely drive nursing home residents to and from medical appointments and activities in the company wheelchair van/bus.

· Schedule medical appointments for nursing home residents and communicate the transportation schedule. This might include reminding nursing home staff of the appointment so the resident is ready at load time.

· Assist nursing home residents in safely entering and exiting wheelchair van/bus.

· Log trip information in the Verida or Tennessee Carriers portals.

· Maintain the company vehicles in a clean and organized fashion.

· Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.

· Provide hospitality and customer services.

· At times, stay with the nursing home resident at medical appointments and collect relevant paperwork to bring back to the nursing home.

· Maintain a variety of records, such as departure time, purpose of trip, passenger name, mileage, and vehicle maintenance.

· Should possess good judgment, be observant and capable of reporting resident status.

· Assigned to work in the Activities Department when not transporting residents or completing transportation related paperwork. Residents enjoy a variety of activities including bingo, chair yoga, and events like the annual Halloween fall festival at the nursing home.

· Maintain nursing home resident confidentiality and promote resident rights.

· Moderate physical effort required during part of the work shift. Must be capable of bending, squatting and lifting. Must be capable of pushing a nursing home resident in a wheelchair (approximately 350 pounds).

· Must have the ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.

· Maintain a clean driving record with an F endorsement.

Qualifications

· Clean driving record with current/valid Tennessee Driver’s License with an F Endorsement.

· Experience with the Verida and Tennessee Carriers portal.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Must be able to pass routine DOT physical and drug screens.

· Must be capable of pushing a nursing home resident in a wheelchair (approximately 350 pounds).

· Desire to work with elderly and disabled nursing home residents.
