The Medical Records Assistant is responsible for responding to medical record requests for clinics across multiple states.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for responding to requests for medical records by retrieving appropriate documents from EMR
Responsible for compliance with state laws with regard to the production of medical records and charges associated with such production
Performs clerical activities in support of the medical records department
Responsible for protection of the security and integrity of medical records to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained in compliance with company policies and federal, state and local regulations
Requirements and Qualifications:
Requires a HS Diploma and a minimum of 1-year related experience;
Must have a proven history of exercising discretion and retaining confidentiality
Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions and to make minor decisions in accordance with rules and regulations as they apply
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external
Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
