This specific position entails supporting special education students in an inclusive setting; and preparing students for success in college and the requisite standard exams - MCAS, SAT, and AP. The precise assignment for this position has yet to be determined and will depend on the qualifications and background of the person to be hired as well as the staffing needs of the school. In addition, the faculty member will serve as an advisor and fulfill all regular duties and commitments required of CCSC staff.
A CCSC Special Education Teacher can expect to:
- Facilitate IEP Team Meetings
- Write comprehensive, compliant, and relevant IEPs
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers to provide inclusion services across grade-level content areas in order to meet the needs of students with a wide range of academic, social, and behavior skills and abilities
- Meet with Grade Level teams to ensure appropriate implementation of accommodations and modifications in general education classrooms
- Regularly gather and analyze data that informs progress on IEP goals
- Conduct academic testing for initial and reevaluations and write academic reports
- Work with school psychologist to interpret evaluations
- Collaborate with ancillary providers, including speech language and occupational therapists
- Work with a diverse student body from Cambridge, Boston, and surrounding cities
- Promote a school-wide culture of respect using the principles of restorative justice
- Communicate with students’ families on a regular basis
- Participate in myriad forms of professional development as scheduled for all faculty
Qualifications:
- Special Education Mild/Moderate license; 5-12 required
- Teaching experience in a similar setting preferred
- Ability to support or co-teach more than one subject preferred
- If not certified in MA, charter school teachers must pass the relevant MA teacher tests (MTEL) by the end of their first year at CCSC
I- f not Sheltered English Immersion endorsed, charter school teachers must earn the endorsement by the end of their first year at CCSC with English Language Learners in any of their courses
Salary
The salary range for this position is $58,763 - $81,110 depending on experience.
