POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate is knowledgeable in biology content and comfortable using pedogeological techniques effective for a diverse student population. The characteristics crucial to success in the position include creative academic leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and a strong appreciation for working in a collaborative, inclusive, diverse, and participative environment.
Position is a part-time assignment to meet the departmental instructional needs for introductory biology (majors and non-majors) and / or healthcare related biology courses. Candidates should identify specific course experience in their cover letter. Class assignments may include teaching day and / or evening classes in different modalities (face-to-face and / or online). Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop lesson plans, activities, and assessments that lead students to the successful attainment of identified course competencies with assistance from the Faculty Lead
- Evaluate student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus
- Teach assigned classes in keeping with community college philosophy.
- Be knowledgeable about pedagogy, methods, retention, inclusion, and assessment of outcomes (or be available and willing to receive training in these areas)
- One week prior to the first day of class, provide the Faculty Lead with a copy of the course syllabus
- At the first class meeting, provide students with a syllabus for the course that includes all components of the course model syllabus and the competencies established in the Colorado Common Course Numbering System
- Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures at the end of the semester
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students in the college learning management system-Desire2Learn (D2L)-and submit required records according to published instructions and deadlines.
- Attend required meetings
- Complete the Learning Management System training, New Faculty and Instructor Orientation, and Web Accessibility Training
- Participate in coaching / mentoring and assessment initiatives established by Department Chair and / or Faculty Lead

Salary : Instructional hours will be paid at the current Instructor rate, which is $1011.00 per credit hour. Science course compensation includes additional pay for added contact hours.
Position Specifics : Position is part-time. There are no insurance benefits offered with this position; however, other benefits associated with this type of position include a pension plan through the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association and eligibility to contribute to supplemental retirement plans.
