The purpose of this class is to serve as the liaison between employers, students, and the academic department and to ensure compliance with field placement requirements. Provides academic and career counseling to program students and provides non-clinical supervision to students in the workplace. Hosts job and transfer fairs. Maintains data and create reports to ensure compliance with grant goals. |
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Public Health, or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Three (3) years of full time experience working with community college students, under-resourced adults, or substance-using populations required. Familiarity with Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Peer certification and licensure processes preferred. Familiarity with best practices in student support and academic advising required. Must have a valid Maryland driver’s license with moving violation points fewer than five (5).

- Coordinate activities of the apprenticeship, internship, clinical field placement, and cooperative work experience programs within Human Services, Counseling, and Social Work programs.
- Act as liaison between the Department and external stakeholders, such as employers, internship sites, apprenticeship partners, and cooperative work experience sites.
- Assist faculty teaching clinical and paraclinical internship courses to match students with appropriate work sites.
- Maintain current database of Department-approved work sites for students in the related human services counseling fields.
- Monitor students in their external work site for compliance with regulations, including codes of ethics, legal requirements, and apprenticeship competencies.
- Provide apprenticeship sponsors with documentation required for compliance.
- Support departmental activities in related career education programs.
- Advise and counsel career students in the employment process and related academic matters, including transfer.
- Host Job and Transfer Fairs in collaboration with other areas of college as appropriate.
- Provide non-clinical supervision for students in external work experiences.
- Maintain database of alumni in clinical practice.
- Provide academic and career advisement for current students.
- Provide study skills and job coaching through individual appointments, group, and in-class workshops designed to meet the needs of students.
- Participate in Career Program Advisory Boards, as requested by department chairs and program coordinators.
- Maintain accurate records of student contacts in order to fulfill reporting requirements and to track student progress.
- Participate in the preparation of mid-year and end-of-year reports as necessary.
- Assure confidentiality with staff, faculty and clients as appropriate.
- Participate in evening and weekend on-and off-campus events relating to the program.
Salary : $49,432 - $81,703
