What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Honors College position at Community College of Baltimore County?
Collaborates with the Dean, Special Academic Programs, to provide visionary leadership, strategic planning, and administrative oversight to develop and sustain an exceptional honors education program. The Director works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and institutional leadership to promote academic excellence, foster innovative teaching and research, and support a diverse and inclusive community of high-achieving students.
Master's degree and five (5) years of teaching experience in post-secondary education required, preferably in a community college. Experience with community college honors pedagogy, preferred. Five (5) years of supervisory experience required. Sensitivity to and understanding diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students and individuals is required. Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the program's needs, including evenings and weekends is required.
- Collaborate with faculty convenors and academic leaders on strategic initiatives connected to the Honors College.
- Research and communicate innovations in honors education.
- Prepare, analyze and provide reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the Honors College with students, parents and professional organizations.
Represent the Honors College to internal constituencies and communities.
- Recruit students to the Honors College and honors courses students by working collaboratively with Admissions, Advising, and other CCBC offices.
- Collaborate with honors directors and academic departmental leadership to develop and schedule honors course offerings.
- Recruit, train, and mentor new honors faculty.
- Evaluate honors courses.
- Create, promote, and oversee campus academic, cultural, and social events for Honors College students
- Work cooperatively with the campus Phi Theta Kappa coordinators
- Develop and promote special academic curricular opportunities for students in credit and non-credit programs.
- Advise and mentor Honors College students.
- Collaborate with campus student leaders and student engagement staff.
- Manage scholarship and budget processes.
- Supervise and manage full and part-time honors office staff
- Oversee the internal tracking of members' information, including membership, student progress data, certificates, graduation, and exit surveys.
- Collaborate with other campus directors to develop or revise policies and practices, event planning and promotion, and general issues as needed.
- Chair the Honors College Advisory Board
Salary : $85,798 - $141,811
