What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tutors - Part Time position at Community College of Baltimore County?
The purpose of the part time tutor position is to provide academic support to CCBC students by promoting effective study habits and learning strategies to become independent learners. The tutor position supports student retention and the College’s mission to provide support and intervention to eradicate attainment gaps based on income, race, gender, and ethnicity. Salaries are based on education level.

Tutor I – (less than associate degree) $15.82 Tutor II - (associate degree) $16.99 Tutor III - (bachelor's degree or above) $18.16 Tutor IV -(Master's Degree) $20.50
- Tutor I - Successful completion of nine (9) credits of college-level courses with at least a B average in the course(s) to be tutored and faculty recommendation.
- Tutor II – Associate Degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in course (s) to be tutored.
- Tutor III – Bachelor’s Degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in course (s) to be tutored.
- Tutor IV – Master's Degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in course (s) to be tutored.
- Demonstrated subject area competence.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Prior tutoring experience preferred.
- Promotes a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment.
- Provides one-on-one, small group and/or online assistance to students.
- Assist students in learning course content by referring to student class notes, assignments, and class resources.
- Promotes study skills and learning strategies.
- Visits classes to advertise the services provided.
- Documents time spent with each student and identifies material covered.
- Attends training sessions to become College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certified.
- Mentors, observes, and evaluates other tutors as assigned.
