What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Financial Aid position at Community College of Beaver County?
This position reports to the Executive Director of Finance and Financial Aid and provides leadership and strategic vision in the planning, development and administration of Financial Aid. Supervises veteran services and financial aid staff. Creates a technology based, integrated array of services for effective management of student financial aid. Ensures the delivery of quality customer service, efficient processing of student financial aid and/or veterans’ benefits. Reviews and develops procedures for the administration of student aid and for ensuring that all procedures are in compliance with federal and state regulations. They develop and articulate procedures for all student financial aid, including all federal, state, institutional, and privately funded aid programs as well as veterans’ programs; counsel with students and parents regarding the various forms of financial assistance programs available and ensuring students understand their financial and educational obligations for the types of awards received; participate with College leadership in planning and implementing packaging and scholarship strategies to maximize use of financial assistance programs in support of College enrollment goals, and serve as the primary liaison to ensure the integration of automated systems used within Student Financial Aid and the College’s student information system to support monitoring and continuing eligibility.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Five or more years managing student financial aid. Three or more years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of regulations and procedures for management of student financial assistance.
- Ability to plan, develop, coordinate and direct student financial services program and initiatives.
- Supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.
- Interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
- Listen effectively and achieve positive results in addressing student issues.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of system requirements for effective management of student financial accounts.
- Superior organizational management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with budget development and budget management processes.
