Our composition, technical writing, and creative writing courses help students build their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while fulfilling their general education and Associate degree requirements.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Primary teaching duties will be in English (ENG). ENG courses are both transfer-level and developmental. Our department values the contributions from the entire department, both full-time and part-time teachers, and adjunct instructors are included in professional development, department projects, robust peer observations, and ongoing program assessment. We also seek to recognize and engage with the institution and the greater Auraria community.The English department is committed to closing the achievement gap in ENG courses through systematic data review, ongoing professional development, and individual reflection. Successful applicants will share CCD’s and the Department of English’s commitment to educating its diverse student population. Faculty must demonstrate a willingness to examine and re-mediate their instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support various groups of marginalized students with diverse learning needs. We are committed to student-centered teaching in all modalities, while recognizing the personal and academic success of our students who are predominantly first-generation and from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education. Ideal candidates will be able to help transition new students into the college experience.
