This individual will demonstrate competence in teaching and development of curriculum as well as clinical competence in the area of Medical / Surgical Nursing.Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate learning in the college classroom and laboratory
- Instruct students in accordance with the established curriculum
- Maintain the ability to fulfill all instructor responsibilities on assigned clinical units at varied sites
- Counsel students relative to their academic progress
- Contribute to the development and revision of curriculum
- Participate in faculty meetings to ensure coordination of didactic instruction and clinical experience.
- Engage in high-quality instruction in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, and the ability to work with students with various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life experiences.
- Participate in college activities, including committee work.
- Use technology to enhance instruction and communicate effectively with the campus community.
- Be willing to travel and teach at multi-campus locations as required by department needs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.Minimum Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- Active license (or eligible for licensure) as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
- The equivalent of five years' full-time experience in the nursing field with emphasis on Medical / Surgical Nursing.
- Current acute care experience required.
- Current CPR for healthcare providers AHA certification.
- Current experience with computer modalities.
- Experience in classroom and / or clinical instruction, preferably in a nursing program.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal and counseling skills.
- Experience, by education or employment, with curriculum design and evaluation, as well as student assessment.
- Current skill and knowledge in the use of information technology and demonstrated experience with integration of computer technology into instruction.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic teaching / learning environment requiring flexibility, adaptability and teamwork.
- Must maintain the ability to fulfill all instructor responsibilities on assigned clinical units at varied sites.
