WHITE MOUNTAINS COMMUNITY COLLEGE - LITTLETON ACADEMIC CENTER
ACADEMIC CENTER ASSISTANT
PART-TIME, $21.16-$22.66 / HOUR
SCOPE OF WORK : Provides general clerical and customer service support to prospective and current students regarding admissions, registration, financial aid and student accounts / payment policies and processing. This position reports to the Administrative Assistant / Enrollment Specialist at White Mountains Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Provides a welcoming environment for all students and guests of the Littleton Academic Center. Assists prospective and current students with basic admissions, registration, financial aid, and billing policies and processes, and makes referrals for advising, counseling, and other college services, as needed.
- Instructs students on the proper usage of Web tools including but not limited to SIS, email, online payment plans, online web admissions applications, FAFSA and Canvas.
- Provides general clerical and technical support, including filing, scheduling appointments, data entry, cashiering, and tracking student documents as related to admissions, registration, financial aid, and billing, utilizing SCT-Banner school-based software and other MS software products. Processes change of name / address requests.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail and monitors facilities use schedule.
- Assists in projects as needed, including but not limited to press releases and mailings.
- Assists with the planning of and participates in college events, such as open houses and other recruitment events. Works with Food Services staff to organize food and beverage supplies on site.
- Assists with student outreach in collaboration with Student Services.
- Maintains knowledge / function of other administrative offices and college departments.
- Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : High School diploma, G.E.D. or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience : Five years of experience in a professional secretarial or office support position, with experience in customer service and data processing. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License / Certification : None required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Extensive experience in the use of databases and PC-based software, including MS Office Suite and Banner, preferred. Experience working in higher education preferred.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS : Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Knowledge of English, spelling and arithmetic. Knowledge of the procedures and practices involved in interviewing. Knowledge of office record keeping and reporting. Knowledge of the regulations pertaining to departmental programs. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration. Ability to gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts and identify existing or potential problems. Ability to contribute to the development of sound operational procedures. Ability to exercise sound judgment in appraising situations and making routine decisions. Ability to follow specific instructions in gathering facts, data, or resources in organizing required information. Ability to make decisions based upon fact-finding interviews within the parameters of the rules and policies of the college. Ability to meet with clients and explain programs sponsored by the department or college in which the position is located. Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
