ACCREDITED TESTING FACILITY COORDINATOR
FULL-TIME, $55,347-64,545 / ANNUALLY
SCOPE OF WORK : Coordinates and administers the White Mountains Community College (WMCC) Accredited Testing Facility (ATF) and provides weld testing services. Provides outreach and services to secondary and post-secondary institutions, businesses, and government entities. This position reports to the Manager of Workforce Development at WMCC.
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Oversees and maintains the ATF, providing visits, outreach, and services to secondary and post-secondary institutions, businesses across the country, and to government entities including the Department of Labor and Department of Transportation. Collaborates with the Marketing team to support the development and implementation of ATF marketing strategies.
- In collaboration with the Manager of Workforce Development and Bursar, manages ATF finances (e.g., accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgeting, and determining costs of services rendered).
- Oversees all aspects of the ATF quality assurance manual within the facility, including receiving and maintaining American Welding Society (AWS) audits and accreditations, and recordkeeping.
- Performs technical services to include researching, developing, writing, and testing various welding and engineering related industry procedures using various methods and equipment following federal, national, and international guidelines.
- Coordinates and performs testing activities including scheduling, administrating, evaluating, documenting, and submitting results to appropriate agencies using accreditation guidelines. Testing services include non-destructive and destructive testing, weld consulting, inspection, and procedural review. Procedural qualification services include guided bend, tensile, macro etch and hardness testing.
- Administers and evaluates AWS - National Welder Certification Program (QC3) testing, consulting on welding problems, code interpretation, weld failure analysis, and quality control programs for industry.
- Collaborates with WMCC's Advanced Welding Technology Program Coordinator and Industry and Transportation Department Chair to schedule test dates, and recruit schools, businesses, and individuals to test at the ATF; assign and evaluate quality metrics relating to testing facility procedures; follow institutional policies and practices; and ensure all inventories and materials are available and equipment is in working order.
- Contributes to continuous improvement in service delivery and business management strategies.
- Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in welding, trades management, or related field.
Experience : Two years of teaching, business, or industry experience directly related to the field of welding.
Education : Associate's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in welding, trades management, or related field.
Experience : Four years of teaching, business, or industry experience directly related to the field of welding.
License / Certification : Valid driver's license. American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector credential (minimum five years). Must hold or be able to obtain welding qualifications in processes including SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and GMAW.
Desired Qualifications : American Welding Society Certified Welding Educator credential preferred. Experience in technical writing of PQR, WPS, AWS code interpretation, ASME Code interpretation, API 1104 Code interpretation, and other applicable code interpretation preferred. Experience using MS Office Suite applications and excellent communication, public relations, and organization skills preferred. Ability to manage resources and evaluate and analyze program effectiveness preferred.
Special Requirements : Interaction with outside agencies and travel on a regular basis to off-site program locations required.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS : Considerable knowledge of the welding trade. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to write technical information. Ability to detect and define problem areas and causes and to create and develop effective solutions, including the exercise of sound judgment in evaluating situations, planning action, making decisions and setting priorities. Ability to work independently and to work as a member of a team. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by college management.
