We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team for awake night shifts (11pm-7am or 7pm-7am). In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with varying needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and dignity. You will work closely with individuals to assist them in daily living activities and promote their independence while adhering to their rights and preferences.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide individuals observation to monitor health status and report any changes or concerns.
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring individuals rights and safety protocols compliance.
- Engage individuals in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Assist with heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring proper techniques are used for individual safety.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for individuals by following hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Foster positive relationships with people we support while respecting their individual needs and preferences.
Experience
- Previous experience in direct support roles or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols is beneficial.
- Experience in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities
- Strong communication skills and working collaboratively within a team setting are essential.
- A commitment to upholding individual rights and promoting dignity in care is crucial for success in this role.
