Direct Support Professional (On-Call/Float)
Location: Spokane, WA 99218 | Job Type: Part-time to Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $21.50 per hour | Expected Hours: Varies
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team in an on-call/float capacity. This role provides flexible coverage for multiple shifts and residential homes, with the opportunity to transition into full-time hours—though full-time is likely but not guaranteed. The ideal candidate is experienced, adaptable, and comfortable working in a variety of support settings.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Monitor health and behavior; document and report any changes or concerns.
- Administer medications according to prescribed protocols.
- Promote social and cognitive engagement through activities.
- Assist with mobility and lifting using proper safety techniques.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment.
- Build positive, person-centered relationships with those you support.
Qualifications
- Previous DSP experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors is a plus.
- Active certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, DSP-specific training) preferred but not required.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Weekend availability is preferred.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Ability to adapt to various individuals, homes, and shifts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
