What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS INC?
Community Connections Inc. is looking for Direct Support Professionals to join our Supported Living Services team based in South Yarmouth, MA. In this role you will support individuals with disabilities by developing adult daily living skills, personal hygiene, and behavioral development. You will partner with Community Connections as an advocate for program members to live independently and integrate into community life. We are looking for someone with a commitment to advocacy, mentoring others and serving the community.
What You'll Do:
- Help program members participate and connect in community life through a variety of social activities
- Assist program members with personal hygiene
- Assist program members with medical and dental appointments
- Monitor program members’ safety within their home and community
- Assist program members with meal preparation, developing grocery lists, and shopping
- Provide transportation to and from activities
What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 6 months experience and/or training working with individuals with disabilities
- Valid driver's license, access to a motor vehicle, and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Strong computer and word processing skills
