- Provides leadership for the district’s Beginning Band Program.
- Effectively collaborates with Band Director to create schedules, co-teach lessons and advance the mission of the Band Program.
- Organizes and carries out a practice schedule as directed.
- Coordinates assigned activities with the school calendar.
- Recruits 4th and 5th grade students for Beginning Band. Encourages student involvement.
- Teaches skills in instrumental music.
- Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Uses repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Helps maintain a positive learning environment.
- Evaluates each pupil’s progress in musical growth and performance, assessing each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group.
- Plans, facilitates, rehearses and directs pupils in the Beginning Band Concert.
- Communicates with parents on pupil progress. Helps parents and students understand academic and behavioral objectives.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
- Cooperates with the school administration in providing musical programs for school productions.
- Supervises all assigned activities and performances.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
- Participates in parent conferences, open houses and other required school events.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Other duties as required.
