Job Title: Learning Behavior Specialist - Multi Needs Preferred
Reports To: Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS I or LBS II Endorsement required.
Educational background and/or experience in working with staff to diagnose and service students with varying disabilities and emotional behavioral concerns;
Collaborative skills with staff members and parents to optimize student achievement;
Strong commitment to professional expertise and continual professional development;
An understanding of adult learning styles and the change process;
Knowledge of varied models and methods of assessment that yield information useful in identifying strengths and needs in understanding problems and in measuring progress.
Expertise in developing appropriate behavioral, affective, adaptive and social goals for students of varying abilities, disabilities, strengths and needs; implement interventions to achieve those goals and evaluate effectiveness of interventions;
Expertise in working with individuals and groups to facilitate policies and practices that create and maintain safe, supportive, and effective learning environments for children and others.
Must have valid Illinois drivers license.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary:
Under the supervision of the building principal and the Director of Student Services, the teacher is responsible for implementing the instructional program and evaluating student progress.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assesses student needs, determines learning objectives and plans activities to meet needs.
Maintains appropriate student records
Maintains a clean, attractive and safe learning environment.
Maintains positive relationships and works with parents to achieve student objectives.
Participates in district and school committees.
Identifies special needs of individual students and cooperates with pupil personnel staff in meeting those needs.
Participates in CPI training.
Motivates students through positive feedback.
Challenges each student to strive from achievement commensurate with his/her abilities.
Promotes positive behavior patterns for students.
Responds to the perceptions of students.
Develops in students a sense of responsibility.
Uses a variety of resources, methodologies and groups in instruction.
Uses the physical school environment to facilitate learning.
Displays interest in and enthusiasm for teaching.

Salary based upon the Long Term Substitute Rate
