Residential Nurse - Diversion Bed Program
Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Full-Time, Non-Exempt: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Requires participation in weekend on-call rotation (typically via phone, however, may require reporting on-site).
Base Pay: $22.77 - $25.07 (LPN); $27.52 - $29.92/hour (RN) - Dependent upon previous Relevant Psychiatric Experience
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- LPN or RN Nursing license required
- LPN: Preferred two years of relevant experience
- Must be knowledgeable in psychotropic medications, psychopathology, and counseling methods
- Valid Driver's License for current State of residence, must meet agency MVR Standards, and proof of continuous current auto insurance
Please note - the Diversion Bed Program is set to open early Summer 2025; however, we are wanting to fill this position and begin training at our other adult residential sites prior to the program opening.
Job Summary:
Responsible for providing direct therapeutic and consultative psychiatric nursing duties; coordination and provision of medication administration; medication consultation and education to clients and family members; case consultation for clients residing in Adult Residential settings; participate in a rotating weekend on-call rotation.
Job Duties:
Medication Administration and Management
- Prepare and administer medications to residents per provider orders, review new orders, and coordinate with pharmacies for delivery.
- Conduct monthly medication reviews with pharmacists, secure physician orders for new admissions, and manage medication storage and disposal according to policies.
Client Education and Support
- Provide client education on medications, monitor for side effects, and teach medication management skills to residents preparing for independent living.
- Promptly respond to client medication inquiries, needs, problems, or side effects in an effective manner consistent with practice standards.
Medical Coordination
- Track annual exams for residents (i.e., physical, hearing, dental, TB test, eye exam, etc.) and coordinate the scheduling of annual exams or other appointments as necessary.
- Administer PPD (TB) tests and injections according to physician's orders, and monitor lab levels in consultation with physicians, caseworkers, and residents.
Screenings and Tests
- Coordinate metabolic screenings including testing lipid profile with glucose and HgbA1C in conjunction with Health Care Home.
Documentation and Compliance
- Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
Training and Supervision
- Receive training to become a Level 1 Medication Aide (L1MA) instructor and assist as needed in teaching and/or completing observations with residential staff identified for certification.
Additional Duties
- Coordinate the packing and removal of sharps with Stericycle, perform any duties related to either medical or psychiatric services within your scope of practice as requested by your supervisor, and work in other adult residential settings as needed.
