Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Marketing will join a dynamic Marketing and Development team to grow and cultivate CDLI's community through strategic marketing campaigns, digital advertising, social media management, content development, and analytics-driven optimization. In addition, the Assistant Director of Marketing will be a strategic thinker with extensive marketing experience who can develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies across multiple channels. This role requires a well-rounded marketing professional who understands the complete customer journey and can effectively message at different touchpoints to drive engagement and program participation. This position will play a key role in amplifying CDLI's mission, programs, and impact stories.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies that align with CDLI's strategic plan and program goals.
- Lead digital marketing initiatives including paid search, paid social media, SEO, and email marketing campaigns.
- Create audience-specific messaging strategies that resonate with diverse stakeholders at different stages of the customer journey.
- Develop and execute strategic content marketing plans across all channels (website, social media, email, and print), creating engagement strategies with guidance from the SVP of Advancement.
- Write, edit and proofread content, including social media posts, webpages, blogs, publications, marketing emails, and more.
- Maintain a calendar of CDLI’s digital communications content.
- Analyze marketing performance data to optimize campaigns, improve ROI, and inform future strategies.
- Serve as brand guardian by maintaining the Brand Identity Guide and ensuring consistent messaging, visual identity, and content clarity across all internal and external materials.
- Work with the leadership team to create ongoing content to coincide with calendar deadlines and appropriate media platforms.
- Manage marketing budget and allocate resources effectively across channels.
- Stay current on marketing trends, particularly in the nonprofit and housing sectors.
- Work with the SVP of Advancement to develop and implement the annual marketing plan.
- Act as a social media community ambassador by responding thoughtfully to comments and questions on CDLI’s social media channels and proactively engaging on social media with peer organizations, funders, community partners.
- Participate in departmental meetings by sharing insights about improving CDLI’s content and its distribution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
- 7 – 10 years of progressive marketing experience with demonstrated success in strategic marketing roles.
- Proven expertise in digital marketing, including paid search, paid social, organic social, SEO, and email marketing.
- Strong understanding of marketing analytics and experience using data to drive marketing decisions.
- Exceptional writing and proofreading skills and ability to tailor communications to specific audiences.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and demonstrating ROI.
- Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with digital marketing platforms and knowledge of analytics tools, and CRM systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Constant Contact a plus.
- Knowledge of website management and content management systems. Familiarity with webhosting and design tools such as Wix, WordPress, Canva & Adobe a plus.
- Proficiency with creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms.
- Comfort with working in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of working well with others.
- Proactive, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
