Position Summary
The Housing Inspector will ensure the units of applicants and participants of the Housing Choice Voucher program meet HQS/NSPIRE standards and remain compliant with program rules and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect houses and apartments for compliance under Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and/or National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE)
- Schedule appointments and complete all assigned inspections on time and in full.
- Complete inspection reports electronically and create business correspondence when necessary.
- Respond to landlord and tenant inquiries.
- Manage various trackers daily of assigned inspections.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- 3 years’ experience in case management or client services in a human services environment, housing complex, or real estate organization is preferred
- Must have own transportation and clean driving record
- Must attain an HQS and/or NSPIRE certification within the first year of employment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of working well with others.
- Proactive, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
