What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community and Employment Specialist position at Community Development Center?
The Community and Employment Specialist seeks to ensure the highest quality of life for persons served in pursuit of employment opportunities within the community, including Pre-Employment Transition Services ( Pre-ETS) and Medicaid Alternative Pathways (MAPs) . Pre-ETS works with students within the schools system in preparation for employmen t.MAPs is a program that will set people with intellectual and developmental disabilities on a path to learn skills to help them work, live independently, learn about their neighborhoods, and find hobbies that interest them. MAPs service give people in the program the tools, technology, and support they need to meet the goal they set for themselves.
Primary Service area would be: Maury, Giles, Lawrence, Lewis and Hickman Counties. This is a rewarding, community based program requiring a minimum of High School Diploma or GED plus six months of successfully working with individuals with disabilities.
Direct Support experience a plus. Preference will be given to an Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree. One year experience in the fields of Job Coaching, Job Placement , Vocational Rehabilitation, Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Resources, etc required. Additional training and certification provided. EOE/Drug Free/Vet/Disability/E-Verify.
