What is the Community Dispute Settlement Center?

The Community Dispute Settlement Center is a community mediation center in Cambridge,

MA that offers free and low cost mediation services and training to Greater Boston

residents. Mediation is a voluntary, confidential, and party-driven alternative dispute

resolution process. CDSC’s roster of trained, neutral volunteer mediators facilitate

discussions that assist people in a dispute in reaching their own resolutions to their

conflict. Through mediation and conflict skills training, CDSC provides our communities

with tools to resolve conflict through peaceful means. Our AmeriCorps member will

support growing youth programs, which include peer mediation programs at local middle

and high schools, restorative justice practices, conflict skills training, and juvenile court

mediation. Some time will be spent providing intake and case coordination support to our

Case Coordinator.

What is the Community Mediation Corps?

CDSC’s AmeriCorps member will serve in the Community Mediation Corps, a National

Direct Service program with members across several states. Members receive over 75

hours of free mediation training, a modest living allowance, comprehensive health

insurance, ongoing mentorship, and a Segal Education Award upon completion of an 11-

month service year. Learn more about AmeriCorps and its benefits here.
