Beginning in August 2025, the Parkway Swim Club and Rockwood Swim Club, currently operating as separate programs under Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed, will combine to form the Parkway-Rockwood Gateway Swim Club. The combined club will have 650 members from throughout the St. Louis region, making it one of the largest clubs in the Ozark LSC of USA Swimming and one of the largest swim clubs in the country.
We are currently looking for a dynamic head coach to provide leadership in developing, implementing and supervising one of the premier swim clubs in the Midwest.
The position is located at the Community Ed office in Ellisville, MO and includes weekly
in-person office hours as well as hours on pool deck.
ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED:
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.
POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Community Ed team, the Community Ed Supervisor – Swim Club will provide leadership in developing, implementing and supervising a competitive swim club program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage day-to-day operation of the swim club.
- Work in a cross-functional team-based environment in order to achieve results.
- Create, administer and manage program evaluation process to ensure swim club is meeting accepted quality program standards as well as Community Ed department philosophies and guidelines.
- Recruit, interview, train, schedule, evaluate and manage program staff.
- Responsible for management of payroll and timesheet approval for swim club staff.
- Prepare and manage budget, reports, records, lists and all other paperwork required or appropriate to operation of the swim club.
- Responsible for leading assigned group of swimmers within swim club and providing assistance to other groups as required.
- Develop, implement and evaluate seasonal plan for assigned group, including daily workouts.
- Evaluate and set goals for individual swimmers in assigned group.
- Attend and oversee all aspects of practice for assigned group.
- Lead selection process for swim meets appropriate for the development of swim club participants and attend meets as required.
- Foster professional development and building of staff morale throughout the program.
- Organize and lead regular staff meetings.
- Review and evaluate season training plans for all groups to ensure adherence to club philosophy.
- Manage sponsorship contract and relationship with club apparel/suit vendor.
- Manage and secure equipment needed for club operation.
- Promote swim club through positive interactions and communications with parents and swimmers.
- Work closely with Community Ed Supervisor – Aquatics regarding pool schedules, shared staff and collaborative efforts to grow both Community Ed recreational and competitive swim programs.
- Collaborate with Community Ed operations staff to meet swim club needs as required.
- Participate in and provide relevant and accurate marketing/communications insight as a member of the Community Education management team and on department-wide committees.
- Represent swim club through Ozark Swimming LSC on issues regarding governance of sport.
- Maintain assigned office hours and attend Community Ed department staff meetings as required.
- Serve on assigned Community Ed department committee.
- Represent swim club to USA Swimming at identified events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Establish and maintain an effective system of communication with Community Ed staff, swim club staff and swimmers of assigned group.
- Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must work well as part of a team and individually.
- Ability to access all work locations within and outside the Parkway and Rockwood School District.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required.
- While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- American Red Cross Coaches Safety Training, CPR and First Aid Certification required.
- American Swim Coaches Association Certification required.
- Minimum of five years experience in an age group swim program.
- Prior experience with supervision of staff preferred.
- Ability to hold and retain USA Coach’s Card.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Knowledge of Google Suite
- Knowledge of web-based Team Unify program preferred
- Knowledge of Hy-Tek program preferred
EQUIPMENT USED:
- General office equipment; pool equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Within assigned pools indoors and outdoors within and outside Parkway and Rockwood School District locations, which may include during inclement weather.
This is a full-time position with starting salary range of $65,000-$70,000/year and includes the following:

Position start date: While the full-time start date for this position will be on or after July 1,2025, the head coach will be expected to be involved in some planning work during spring 2025 in advance of the launch of the new Parkway-Rockwood Gateway Swim Club.
Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
